The Maori kamo Kamo or Kumi Kumi is a green ribbed maturing to a golden colour
Plant in rich moist soil 1.5 m – 2 m apart. Water the soil well and apply fertiliser while fruit develop. Harvest when the skin is hard and fruit stems dry. The stem is known as a wick, so when the wick dries off this is a sign of maturity. Store in a well-ventilated cool spot for later use. All squash improves immensely in flavour and sweetness when left for 2 weeks to cure after harvesting.
